Diageo vow to cut down on non-recyclable packing, with Guinness packs becoming 100% biodegradable and recyclable. Debuting in Ireland in August 2019.
The £16 initiative by Diaego gives a revamp to beer multipack packaging amidst global efforts to protect and improve the environment. At present, under 5% of total Diaego packaging is plastic, and further efforts are being taken to go greener!
David Cutter, chief sustainability officer and president of global supply and procurement said:
"Great packaging is essential for our products. Consumers expect our packs to look beautiful, be functional, and sustainable."
We couldn't agree more with those thoughts, and would like to take this opportunity to offer our help to any other drink producers thinking of making the switch. Having worked with a variety of products before, we are excited about working on packaging solutions - especially when it has that element of Corporate Social Responsibility added to the job.
Back to Mr Cutter:
"I am proud to announce this investment, through which we have been able to combine all three. We have been working tirelessly to make our packaging more environmentally friendly and I'm thrilled with out-come for Guinness and our other global beer brands"
Guinness, Harp, Rockshore and Smithwick's ditch the plastic as the initiative debuts in Ireland, August 2019.
